LXI Data Acquisition Systems (Ethernet-Based)

Bustec’s LXI (LAN eXtensions for Instrumentation) systems are designed for large, distributed test environments where precise synchronisation, electrical robustness, and long-term stability are essential. LXI is particularly well-suited to aerospace, defence, propulsion, and infrastructure test facilities where measurement points are spread across large rigs or multiple locations.

The ProDAQ LXI platform enables high-precision data acquisition over standard Ethernet networks while maintaining deterministic timing. Using IEEE-1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), multiple instruments can be synchronised to sub-microsecond accuracy, allowing geographically distributed systems to operate as a single, coherent measurement platform.

Unlike generic Ethernet DAQ solutions, Bustec’s LXI instruments are engineered specifically for measurement integrity. Key design principles include simultaneous sampling across channels, high channel-to-channel isolation, and independent signal paths to minimise noise and ground loop effects. This makes the platform particularly effective in electrically harsh environments such as engine test cells, environmental chambers, and large structural test rigs.

LXI systems scale efficiently as test requirements grow. Additional instruments can be added without redesigning the system architecture, preserving timing accuracy and data integrity as channel counts increase. This scalability, combined with open standards, makes LXI an ideal choice for long-term test infrastructures with evolving requirements.
