AADS J8
The AADS J8 is a high-mobility, mission-ready tactical platform engineered to meet the operational requirements of armed forces, internal security organisations, and specialist response units. Built on a reinforced ladder-frame chassis and available with selectable 4×2 or permanent 4×4 driveline configurations, the J8 combines proven durability with adaptable mission capability. Configured as a two-door, two-personnel platform, it provides a compact, yet highly capable base vehicle suited to patrol, reconnaissance, rapid response, and modular mission pod integration.
Unmatched engine performance and operational range
Powered by a choice of advanced petrol, hybrid, or turbo diesel engines, the AADS J8 delivers strong power-to-weight performance and extended operational range. The 2.0L petrol turbo produces 272bhp and 400Nm of torque, offering a range of up to 980km depending on configuration. The 2.0L petrol turbo hybrid combines 272bhp with a 17.3kWh hybrid system, delivering 637Nm of torque and an extended operational range of up to 1,730km, while reducing acoustic and thermal signature for sensitive operations.
The 3.0L V6 turbo diesel produces 260bhp and 600Nm of torque and is compatible with NATO F-34 fuel, optimised for sustained deployments and coalition interoperability. An eight-speed automatic transmission with 2.72:1 low-range gearing ensures controlled off-road mobility and responsive on-road performance across diverse terrain profiles.
Off-road mobility and mission payload
Designed for demanding operational environments, the J8 offers 237mm of ground clearance, 760mm fording depth, and approach, departure, and break-over angles of 41°, 28.7°, and 22°, respectively. A 5.9m turning circle enhances manoeuvrability in confined urban environments, while its 3008mm wheelbase provides stable handling during high-speed transit and uneven terrain navigation. With overall dimensions of 5,200mm in length, 1,885mm in width, and 2,270mm in height, the vehicle balances compact mobility with mission equipment integration capability.
With a gross vehicle weight of 3,200kg and a curb weight of approximately 1,850kg, the AADS J8 supports substantial payload and specialist equipment integration while maintaining agility. A braked towing capacity of up to 2,495kg enables deployment of trailers, additional mission modules, and support assets, enhancing logistics and operational flexibility.
The modular mission pod architecture allows rapid role adaptation without altering the core vehicle platform. Configurations include personnel carrier, police and patrol, UAV command, infrared camera control, canine and armed response, utility, mobile workshop, and ambulance variants. This modular approach enables fleet standardisation while delivering mission-specific capability, reducing training burden, sustainment complexity, and overall lifecycle cost.
Suitable for challenging operational environments
The AADS J8 platform has been validated in demanding global operational environments, including tropical, desert, coastal, and high-humidity conditions. Programmes supporting deployments across the Caribbean, Central and South America, Africa, the Middle East, and European homeland security operations demonstrate its corrosion resistance, durability, and sustained reliability. Multi-year government contracts and capacity-building initiatives further confirm the platform’s suitability for armoured, patrol, transport, ambulance, and specialist workshop roles.
Supported by AADS integration expertise, documentation, and sustainment capabilities, the Jeep J8 delivers more than tactical mobility. By combining high power-to-weight performance, extended operational range, modular adaptability, and globally proven durability, the J8 provides a scalable, mission-ready light utility capability designed to perform reliably throughout its service life in the harshest operational environments.
