Sweden selects Raytheon UK anti-jamming systems for military platforms

The contracts cover Landshield equipment designed to help protect GPS signals used by Swedish military platforms from electronic warfare.

Raytheon UK has secured contracts from Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to supply its GPS anti-jamming systems for use across multiple Swedish military platforms.

The contract, awarded by FMV’s Commercial Affairs Division covers Landshield and Landshield Plus systems.

The Landshield family of systems are designed to enhance assured positioning, navigation and timing (APNT) by protecting GPS signals from jamming and interference during electronic warfare operations.

The Landshield Plus system combines an antenna and anti-jam processor in a single configuration. It can be deployed on land, maritime or air assets.

According to Raytheon UK, the solution provides real-time situational awareness by detecting and localising sources of interference, supporting users in environments where GPS signals are vulnerable.

The Landshield Plus system utilises both the L1 and L2 GPS frequency bands and features a seven-element antenna integrated with anti-jam processing capability.

Raytheon UK said the systems are manufactured in the UK and that thousands have been supplied to allied forces.

The contract reflects a broader trend among Nato and allied forces seeking scalable anti-jamming solutions in response to changing electronic warfare threats.

In September last year, Raytheon UK secured a contract with BAE Systems to deliver Landshield Plus antennas for the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle.

Financial terms and delivery timelines of the FMV contract remain undisclosed.

Raytheon UK engineering director Alex Rose-Parfitt said: “Electronic warfare threats are evolving, and forces across Nato need navigation systems they can depend on. By selecting the Landshield family of systems, Sweden is strengthening its ability to protect critical GPS signals across a range of platforms and maintain mission effectiveness in contested environments.”
