Renk Group is showcasing its latest development, the HSWL 076 transmission, at this year's DSEI event in London to meet the demands of modern lightweight tracked vehicles.

The new transmission is a result of a two-year development partnership with Finnish defence company Patria.

The HSWL 076 is claimed to be the first of a new generation of transmissions, opening the way for a digital drivetrain landscape.

Renk Group CEO Dr Alexander Sagel said: “We are setting a new standard for propulsion technology in light tracked vehicles with the HSWL 076. The development in partnership with Patria and the consistent focus on future requirements demonstrate how we innovate in a practical and customer-oriented manner at RENK. Our goal is to offer our customers reliable, efficient and future-viable solutions.”

The HSWL 076 was subject to extensive field testing throughout the year, with aims to make the prototype drive-by-wire capable, said the company.

Presently undergoing initial functional tests, it comes equipped with an integrated digital interface and monitoring systems, laying the groundwork for advanced assistance and autonomous driving features.

Weighing approximately 700kg and capable of reaching speeds up to 90km/h, the compact transmission is optimised for light tracked vehicles weighing between 13 and 21 tonnes.

Renk said that the transmission’s integrated steering system ensures precise handling and superior tactical agility.

The introduction to the market is structured to guarantee prolonged availability and favourable terms, particularly for initiatives that anticipate large-scale production.

Based in Augsburg, Germany, Renk supplies essential gear units, power-packs, hybrid systems, transmissions, suspension systems, slide bearings, couplings, clutches, and test systems for both military and civilian applications.
