Canadian armoured vehicle manufacturer Inkas has launched a next-generation M1 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (M1 MRAP) vehicle.

Officially unveiled at Milipol Paris 2025 in November 2025, the M1 MRAP is an outcome of a Canadian French defence collaboration with KNDS Mobility, previously known as Texelis Defense. This vehicle is the first such Nato-aligned MRAP platform, INKAS stated on 30 April 2026.

The M1 MRAP features a V-shaped monocoque hull and a reinforced ballistic capsule. This structure aims to provide comprehensive protection against anti-tank mines, improvised explosive devices, ballistic threats and ambushes, meeting Nato STANAG protection levels.

According to Inkas, the vehicle is equipped with a 375-horsepower engine and an Allison 3200SP transmission offering six forward and one reverse gear. The vehicle’s design provides seating for up to 10 personnel.

The company has configured the M1 as a modular, multi-role platform, allowing for various mission profiles such as troop transport, command and control operations, reconnaissance, and medical evacuation.

In addition, the M1 MRAP can be fitted with a range of optional features, including a 360-degree situational awareness camera system, window protection mesh, an emergency strobe light package, a siren and public address system, and a remote-controlled weapon station with counter-unmanned aerial system capability.

Inkas CEO David Khazanski said: “The M1 reflects how allied partners can combine their industrial expertise to deliver meaningful operational capability.

"By integrating Canadian armoured vehicle engineering with a proven French mobility system, we have developed a platform designed for full Nato compatibility while strengthening defence cooperation between our countries.”
