The Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Ukraine has codified a new armoured vehicle based on the Dodge RAM 5500, clearing the way for its supply to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The newly authorised vehicle, known as the UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP, is designed to carry service personnel and cargo across varied terrain in combat areas.

Built by a Ukrainian defence firm that has supplied armoured vehicles to the country’s military since 2022, the vehicle was developed in response to operational requirements from the field.
The manufacturer stated that the pickup was specifically designed to offer versatility, reliability, durability, and ease of use for troops.
According to the MoD, the UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP features armour protection standards conforming to Level 2 ballistic and fragmentation ratings under STANAG 4569, as well as Level 3a and 3b mine protection standards.
The vehicle’s hull incorporates a high-strength body and components sourced for durability and ease of maintenance.
In addition, civilian-style controls and widely available consumables were included in the design to streamline operation and repairs under field conditions.
Weighing just over eight tonnes, the pickup is capable of transporting five fully equipped personnel together with almost two tonnes of cargo. It is reported to reach speeds of up to 110km/h and provides a driving range of 1,000km on paved roads and 800km on dirt tracks.
The design allows the vehicle to operate off-road, including in marshland and dense vegetation, the MoD stated.
Standard equipment includes external and video observation systems, an electronic protection suite, and a fire suppression system covering both the cab and engine compartment.
Ventilation, air conditioning, and a winch are also fitted, while options such as a semi-automatic tyre inflation system, anti-spall liner, and CBRN filtration can be added if required.
The approval of the UAT.GYURZA-01 PICKUP by the Ministry follows previous authorisation of domestically built armoured vehicles, such as the Ukrainian Humvee and the Desna.
