Ricardo Defense has secured a new order to deliver additional Antilock Brake System/Electronic Stability Control (ABS/ESC) retrofit kits for the US Army High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs).

The $18.9m order comes more than a year after the company secured a base contract to deliver such safety improvement kits.

The ABS/ESC retrofit system for HMMWVs includes antilock braking, electronic stability control, active rollover protection, traction control, and improved brake calipers, pads, and rotors.

According to the company website, the addition of the system reduces rollover risks and increases the reliability and operational readiness of the HMMWV vehicles.

The US Army plans to equip all newly produced HMMWVs with Ricardo’s integrated ABS/ESC technology.
