Poland Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has provided an update on the negotiations concerning the purchase of South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks for the Polish Armed Forces.
The minister reported the completion of negotiations for the second procurement contract of the K2 tank project in Poland. A signing with the involved company is imminent.
The update was provided by Kosiniak-Kamysz alongside State Secretary at the Ministry of National Defence Paweł Bejda in Warsaw on 2 July 2025.
It was also confirmed by South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem in a regulatory filing.
Kosiniak-Kamysz said: “These negotiations required time so that the Polonized version could be carried out, so that the talks between the business partners, in this case the Polish Armaments Group and Hyundai Rotem, would end in success. The basic partner from the Polish side, within the Polish Armaments Group, will be the Bumar Łabędy company. This is an important investment for this company, which will regain its vitality thanks to this. I would like us to sign this contract, if everything is finalised, at Bumar Łabędy.”
The deal encompasses 180 tanks, 80 accompanying vehicles, and a comprehensive support package.

By GlobalDataThe current supply of K2 Black Panther tanks stems from an implementation agreement signed in August 2022, valued at $3.37bn, (12.1bn zlotys) between Poland’s Armament Agency and Hyundai Rotem.
Under this contract, a total of 180 tanks are scheduled for delivery to the Polish Armed Forces in 2022-2025 timeframe.
Deputy Minister responsible for the modernisation of the Polish army said: “From the contract that we will sign this year, from this second implementation contract, the first 30 tanks will be delivered to Poland in 2026.”
The K2 Black Panther, a South Korean third-generation main battle tank, is equipped with a 120mm smooth-bore gun featuring an autoloader capable of firing advanced ammunition types.
Its secondary armament includes a 7.62mm machine gun and a 12.7mm large-calibre machine gun.
The tank’s fire control system enables precise long-range targeting. In its standard configuration, the K2’s armour offers robust ballistic and anti-mine protection, which can be enhanced with active soft-kill and hard-kill protection systems.
