Parsons has secured a multiple-award task order contract (MATOC) from the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sacramento District.

The $49m indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract will support USACE Sacramento in addressing environmental and munitions response challenges.

The potential five-year order will support a broad set of environmental services at formerly used defence sites (FUDS).

The FUDS sites are primarily located in the US states of Nevada, Utah, California, New Mexico, and Arizona.

According to information on the USACE website, around 5,440 FUDS across the country have been identified for investigation and clean-up as of 30 September 2019.

So far, environmental clean-up has been carried out on 3,700 sites.

Parsons Engineered Systems president Jon Moretta said: “We stand ready to provide the tools, technology, and expertise to support the US Army Corps of Engineers in their continued efforts to clean up contamination across the country.

“Our teams have supported USACE’s environmental efforts for nearly 30 years and look forward to serving the Sacramento District in this quest.”

According to Parsons, environmental remediation is part of its ‘environmental, social, and governance’ portfolio.

Parsons will use its know-how to carry out investigation and remediation of contamination at Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) and Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) facilities.

Last month, Parsons won a $1.1bn MATOC from the USACE.

The potential ten-year chemical, environmental and munitions response unrestricted (ChEM-RU) contract supports MMRP responses.
