Harris has received an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for the supply of military communications and field support services to support nations in the US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) area of responsibility (AOR).

The four-year contract was awarded by the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT) under the counter-illicit trafficking programme.

Under the $38m contract, Harris will provide the Falcon tactical radios and integrated communication system solutions.

The order also includes an expansive sustainment programme to provide operator and maintenance support for the existing Falcon II radios throughout the region.

The company will also provide a logistics backbone to upgrade Falcon III radios, such as the RF-7800M multiband and RF-7800V VHF.

Harris RF Communications group president Dana Mehnert said the radios and communication systems will deliver increased situational awareness and command and control technology required to counter illicit trafficking.
