Harris Corporation has been awarded a contract to provide Falcon III AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios for US Army Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles.
Under the $20m contract, Harris will provide the radios as well as associated AN/VRC-114 vehicular amplifier adapters.
The installation of the radios will provide SATCOM on-the-move capability to the vehicles along with streaming video, simultaneous voice and data feeds, collaborative chat and connectivity to secure networks.
The contract was awarded by the US Army’s Project Manager-MRAP to upgrade the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite communications as ordered by army G3/5/7 LANDWARNET.
The Falcon III AN/PRC-117G radio features a software-defined, upgradable voice and data platform that supports network-enabled missions such as convoy tracking, mission operations planning and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC).
