Zala Aero Group, a member of Concern Kalashnikov of the Rostec State Corporation, has announced plans to begin state tests of the Rex-1 electronic weapon in 2018.
Similar to a machine gun in appearance, the Rex-1 rifle is capable of defeating combat unmanned vehicles without firing any rounds.

Upon successful completion of the planned tests, the non-lethal weapon will be commercialised to support various security, defence and law enforcement agencies.
The weapon features an integrated suppression module that masks signals of GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo satellite navigation systems within a radius of 5km, Rostec stated.
It can also block GSM, 3G, LTE signals and jamming at frequencies of 900MHz, 2.4, 5.2–5.8GHz, according to the statement.
When Rex-1 is fired at an aerial vehicle, the drone gets out of contact with the control point and lands smoothly, according to the company.
