Ricardo has joined forces with Morgan Advanced Materials and Ultra Electronics to bid for continued support and modernisation of the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Mastiff family of protected patrol vehicles (PPVs).
Collaboration between the three UK companies is expected to provide an outstanding option for support and enhancement of the unique capabilities of the Mastiff family of vehicles, including Mastiff, Ridgback and Wolfhound, for the foreseeable future.
Ricardo UK managing director Martin Fausset said: "Ricardo is extremely pleased to be joining forces with Morgan and Ultra in what represents a highly effective and all-British partnership, drawing together world-class engineering capabilities and extensive experience in military vehicle design, development, manufacture and overhaul."
Specifically, the partnership will offer the possibility of optimising electronic and power system synergies between vehicle, future soldier and base systems.
Bidding as prime contractor, Morgan will lead the team, while Ricardo and Ultra Electronics will serve as sub contractors.
Morgan has developed and integrated UK-specific, specialised armour protection and electronic systems into the entire Mastiff family from base platforms purchased from the US, while Ultra is currently supplying multiple electronic systems for the MoD’s Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme (WCSP) and Scout SV development.
