The Ukraine and Peru have begun testing the new Tifon-2 tank, a joint venture of the Morozov Machinery Design Bureau in Kharkiv in the Ukraine, and Casanave (DISCA) in Peru.
The trials included mobility, speed and obstacle testing. The next test phase will be for weapons firings.
The Tifon-2 is based on the T-55 and T-55ATM tanks and is powered by a 1,050hp 5TDFMA engine with a top speed of 55km/h.
The tank will be armed with a 125mm KBM-1M with an automatic loader and equipped with a computerised fire control system.
The Peruvian Army intends to replace its 300 T-55 tanks with the new Tifon-2, according to Defpro.com.
