Thales Australia’s Hawkei light protected vehicle has been selected for the Australian Army’s LAND 121 phase 4 programme.

The LAND 121 Project Overlander phase 4 programme involves the procurement of light protected mobility vehicles to replace the army’s fleet of Land Rover utility vehicles.

Hawkei is a 7t, 4×4 light protected vehicle with a wide range of integrated sensors, weapons, additional armour, C4I (command, control, communications, computers and intelligence) and new electronic systems.

The vehicle has been selected by the Department of Defence following the successful completion of on-road and off-road tests, during which the Hawkei met all the required performance standards.

Design partners of the highly manoeuvrable and readily air transportable vehicle include Boeing Defence Australia, PAC Group and Plasan.
