The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is set to receive 40mm low-velocity ammunition from ST Engineering's land systems arm ST Kinetics, under a £2.8m ($6.6m) contract.

ST Kinetics subsidiary Advanced Material Engineering will begin the delivery in the last quarter of this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.

ST Kinetics is showcasing its wide range of 40mm solutions at Defence Systems & Equipment International (DSEi) 2009, an integrated defence and security exhibition in London.

ST Kinetics president SEW Chee Jhuen said this was UK MoD's first order of low-velocity rounds and it reflected the continued confidence of the UK MoD in the quality of the company's 40mm ammunition.

Earlier in May, the company had received an order of £9.5m ($20.7m) from the UK MoD to supply 40mm high-velocity target practice tracer rounds.
