Canada has awarded a Light Armoured Vehicle III (LAV III) upgrade contract to General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada.
The LAV III is air transportable and capable of reaching speeds of up to 100km/h.
General Dynamics is the prime contractor and systems integrator for the programme, which includes adding a high-capacity driveline and suspension to increase the vehicle’s payload.
Other features of the upgrade package will be determined in consultation with the Department of National Defence.
After the specifications of the contract are finalised, the modernisation work will be performed at General Dynamics’ facilities in London, Ontario, and Edmonton.
