Germany will spend an additional €50m to rebuild the Afghan Army in the war-torn country.

The German Foreign Ministry is providing the financial assistance amidst the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.

Germany’s Defence Ministry is already spending €500m a year for its military mission in Afghanistan as part of the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force.

Currently, more than 3,500 German troops are deployed in northern Afghanistan and Kabul.

Germany is also boosting its training of Afghan security forces, as announced previously.
