The US Army has awarded Elbit Systems of America a contract worth up to $197.5m for the mortar fire control (MFC) systems integration programme.

Elbit Systems will perform systems integration, development, production, fielding and support of the US Army’s mortar ballistic computer and other MFC systems, as part of a five-year contract.

Elbit Systems of America president and CEO Raanan Horowitz said: “Elbit Systems will be providing the [US] Army with MFC systems that increase accuracy and timely fires, and will do so while improving supply chain responsiveness and affordability.”

The contract is of hybrid indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity – time and materials (ID/IQ-T&M) type and the initial order is worth about $22m.
