Lebanese Army pilots will be trained on 12 Ravens donated by the US as part of its military assistance programme, the US Embassy announced on Tuesday.

The unmanned military aircraft, which have electronic sensors to provide immediate intelligence information, will be provided in the coming months, the statement said.

The donation was agreed earlier this year when the Lebanese Army commander General Jean Kahwaji and Defence Minister Elias Murr visited the US, according to the statement.

It said the donation and the training was, ‘part of the comprehensive, robust US military assistance programme to Lebanon’.
