Roketsan Missiles Industries has placed a production order with Goodrich for the SiIMU02 inertial measurement unit (IMU), which will be used on its new CIRIT 70mm laser-guided missile for helicopters.
The order follows the recent customisation and qualification of the SiIMU02 inertial sensing unit package for CIRIT.
SiIMU02 IMU technology uses the advanced micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and offers accurate motion sensing for a broad range of missiles and rockets.
The system allows the user to create smaller, smarter weapons with a significant increase in delivery accuracy.
The CIRIT is one of the projects aimed to equip the Turkish Army’s T-129 Atak, AH-1P Cobra and AH-1W Super Cobra helicopters with low-cost precision strike capabilities.
Production of the IMUs will be carried out at the company’s facility in Plymouth, UK.
