The Finnish Defence Forces are to deploy the software-defined radio-based EB tactical wireless IP network to meet the growing need for data throughput.
The EB tactical wireless IP network is a stand-alone military wireless broadband network that is upgradable, easy to adapt and can be deployed in any location.
The IP network enables a mesh network solution with high data rate and automatic network configuration that is compatible with existing wire-line and wireless infrastructure.
EB Defence & Security vice-president Jari Sankala said, “This product responds to Finnish Defence Forces requirements for modern military operations, demanding much higher data rates in the field.”
The digitalisation of command and control systems will ensure defence forces are provided with enhanced situational awareness in the battlefield.
The €15.6m ($21.2m) contract has a performance period until the first half of 2013.
