The Federative Republic of Brazil has placed orders with Harris to provide Falcon III and Falcon II tactical radios for its armed forces.
Under the $14m contract, Harris will provide Brazil with Falcon III RF-7800V very-high frequency (VHF) handheld combat net radio, Falcon II high-frequency manpack radio, training and customer service field support.
The RF-7800V will provide forward-deployed forces with wireless voice and high-bandwidth data communications and enhanced secure beyond-line-of-site communications.
The communication systems will be deployed in a range of humanitarian, security and disaster relief missions.
The orders were placed after several months of challenging competitive field trials in a variety of environments that are inhospitable to tactical communication.
