The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has notified Congress of a potential through-life-support (TLS) sale for Australian MH-60R multimission helicopters.
Under the estimated $1.6bn foreign military sale, Australia is seeking a ten-year TLS for 24 MH-60R helicopters along with spare and repair parts provision, support and test equipment as well as technical and logistics support services.
Australia has been contributing to peacekeeping and humanitarian operations in Iraq and in Afghanistan, and the sale will help it maintain and sustain its resources.
The country has substantial experience in maintaining and supporting the S-70B helicopters in its inventory.
Sikorsky, Lockheed and Raytheon will be the principal contractors.
