Canadian National Defence has awarded a contract to Thales to supply and integrate two Ground Master 400 (GM 400) radars deployable with a suite of communications and operator control systems.

Thales Canada president and CEO Paul Kahn said the radar would provide accurate detection against a broad range of modern threats whilst maintaining a high level of mobility.

The GM 400 is a 3D, long-range air defence radar that detects targets from very high to very low altitudes.

The radar will be integrated with identification friend or foe (IFF), command and control, ground-air-ground and satcom communications, link 16/11/1, networking and management systems as well as simulation.
