Iran has plans to restructure the army’s ground forces to further improve the country’s defensive power, Iranian Army ground forces commander Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan has said.

“Plans for making changes within the army’s ground forces, aimed at enhancing its preparedness in confronting threats, have been approved by the commander in chief leader of the Islamic revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei,” he added.

The restructuring will allow the Islamic Republic’s Army to be prepared to resist potential attacks on any part of the country, according to Press TV.

Iran has been developing modern military hardware, including missiles, missile launchers and vessels, in spite of US-backed sanctions on the country over its nuclear programme.
