The US Army TACOM Lifecycle Management Command (LCMC) has awarded a contract to Oshkosh to supply 4,700 trucks and trailers from the family of medium tactical vehicles (FMTV) to the army.

As part of the $797m delivery order, the US army will receive more than 4,150 trucks and 590 trailers.

The FMTV is a series of 17 models ranging from 2.5t to 10t payloads and support army and national guard units at home and abroad in combat operations, relief efforts, unit resupply missions and other functions.

The new order is a part of a five-year FMTV contract awarded to Oshkosh, which brings the total FMTV orders to more than 14,000 trucks and trailers.

The deliveries are scheduled to start in September 2011 and end in August 2012.
