It covers the HGU-56/P helmet system, Apache Helmet Assemblies, spare parts, and upgrade kits.
Gentex stated that the agreement aims to ensure continued fielding, maintenance, and modernisation of the HGU-56/P helmet systems, which are used by rotary-wing aircrews.
The firm fixed-price arrangement covers the supply of complete helmet assemblies as well as sustainment and upgrade support, intended to maintain aircrew readiness and extend the lifecycle of existing equipment.
Gentex Corporation Rotary Wing Applications segment director Marcus Gengler said: “This award reflects the continued confidence the US Army places in Gentex and our ability to deliver proven, mission-critical aircrew protection systems.
“For decades, we’ve provided advanced helmet solutions that enhance safety, survivability, and mission effectiveness. We are honoured to continue supporting Army aviators with the equipment they depend on every day.”
The HGU-56/P Rotary Wing Helmet System is developed to meet the US Army Air Soldier Program goal of decreasing the weight and size of flight safety gear used by rotary wing aircrew during extended missions.
The system includes impact protection, compatibility with communication equipment and night vision technology, and a modular design that enables upgrading and use across various military platforms.
In 2017, Gentex secured a contract worth around $13m, to deliver Apache Aviator Integrated Helmets (AAIHs) to the US Army.
