Australia’s DroneShield has received three separate follow-on contracts from a European reseller to deliver handheld detection and counter-drone systems.

The A$61.6m ($40m) contracts, which includes all relevant accessories, is the largest single purchase in DroneShield’s history, surpassing its total revenue of A$57.5m in fiscal 2024.

DroneShield expects to deliver the orders in the third quarter of 2025, with payments anticipated in the same quarter and the subsequent one.

DroneShield CEO Oleg Vornik said: “In succession to the $32.2 million repeat order announced on 14 April 2025 for another customer, DroneShield products are now being purchased in material quantities.

“The scale and frequency of orders has been increasing as leading Military customers are moving from testing hardware to broader rollouts. DroneShield is well placed to meet the increasing demand.”

The contract is a strategic part of DroneShield’s ongoing efforts to deepen its presence in Europe.

DroneShield has been expanding its operations within the region to support domestic defense initiatives such as the €800m ReArm Europe Plan / Readiness 2030.

The ReArm Europe Plan / Readiness 2030 aims to enhance EU defence spending by offering fiscal flexibility and loans, bolstering industrial and procurement autonomy throughout the EU, and mobilising private investment while providing support for Ukraine.

The company is also establishing a European Centre of Excellence to meet the increased military expenditure within the EU.

This facility will be DroneShield’s first European manufacturing site and the first outside Australia. It is the second production line dedicated to key hardware with at least 65% European industry content for certain regional sales.

The European Centre of Excellence will be used for manufacturing and assembly; research and development; drone testing; and training.

Europe represents one of DroneShield’s most significant market segments, with over A$1.1bn in active pipeline opportunities across 55 projects.

In 2024, the company’s exported 91% of its Australian production.

“Establishing a robust European supply chain to support equipment sold in the region will strengthen sovereign capability,” Oleg Vornik added.
