Artec, the joint venture responsible for the Boxer development programme, has received an order to deliver 69 additional Boxer RCT30 wheeled infantry fighting vehicles to the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) and the Netherlands.
The latest commission from the procurement agency, Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR), exercises an option within an existing 2025 contract that covers procurement of 222 systems.

The Bundeswehr, which had previously ordered 150 of the vehicles, will receive a further 35 units while the Royal Netherlands Army will take delivery of 34 additional vehicles, increasing its total fleet to 106.

KNDS’ Boxer RCT30 integrates a 30 mm turret, similar to that used on the PUMA infantry fighting vehicle.
The vehicle, which the German armed forces designate as “Schakal”, is designed to support the Bundeswehr’s new “Medium Forces”. It features the MELLS anti-tank guided missile system and can accommodate a squad of six dismounted soldiers.
According to KNDS, the system is capable of engaging moving targets and providing counter-drone and counter-aircraft capabilities.
The addition of the German and Dutch armed forces brings the total number of nations utilising the Boxer RCT 30 under contract to four.
