Middle East & Africa witnessed an 8.4% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
September 2021 has seen an increase of 2.62% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 17.43% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 2.67% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 66.67% in September 2021, a 15.79% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 16.67% in September 2021, marking a 14.29% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 8.33% in September 2021, a 300% rise from August 2021.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 8.33% in September 2021, a 33.33% rise over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.77% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s apparel industry during September 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 26 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a decline of 18.75% over the previous month, followed by The Foschini Group with 6 jobs and a 50% growth. Mr. Price Group with 4 IT jobs and Apple with 3 jobs, recorded a 33.33% drop and a 40% drop, respectively, while Magnit recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s apparel industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 39.58% share in September 2021, a 13.64% decrease over August 2021. United Arab Emirates featured next with a 22.92% share, flat growth over the previous month. Israel recorded a 16.67% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.58%, down by 13.89% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with a 25% share, registered a growth of 50% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 10.42% share, down 58.33% over August 2021.
