Asia-Pacific witnessed a 9.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
October 2021 has seen a decrease of 8.78% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 13.13% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering a decrease of 0.58% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 77.76% in October 2021, a 31.66% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 8.37% in October 2021, marking a 28.7% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 7.96% in October 2021, a 27.1% drop from September 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 2.65% in October 2021, a 136.36% rise over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 32.17% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s apparel industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 474 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 27.63% over the previous month, followed by JD with 169 jobs and a 42.91% drop. Alibaba Group Holding with 111 IT jobs and Woolworths Group with 33 jobs, recorded a 39.67% drop and a 37.74% drop, respectively, while Walmart recorded a 72.22% increase with 31 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s apparel industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 35.31% share in October 2021, a 37.77% decrease over September 2021. China featured next with a 35.1% share, down 39.44% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 14.08% share, a growth of 4.55% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.22%, down by 27.57% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with an 18.98% share, registered a decline of 16.59% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.88% share, down 43.33% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.92%, recording a month-on-month growth of 12.5%.
