Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive robotics-related hiring activity

Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 22%, emerged as the top robotics-related job roles within the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 22% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 7% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent robotics roles include Management Occupations with an 8% share in Q2 2024, Production Occupations with a 6% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in aerospace, defence and security industry accounted for 44% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Societe Anonyme Belge de Constructions Aeronautiques, Sierra Nevada, EDGE Group, MDA Space, and AeroVironment. Together they accounted for a combined share of 44% of all robotics-related new jobs in the aerospace, defence and security industry.

Societe Anonyme Belge de Constructions Aeronautiques posted 550 robotics-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Sierra Nevada 479 jobs, EDGE Group 352 jobs, MDA Space 121 jobs, and AeroVironment 118 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 54.22% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of robotics-related new job postings in the aerospace, defence and security industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 54.22% followed by Belgium (14.83%) and the UAE (5.97%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points higher than the 49.68% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
