Menatek introduced its new product line, Sur Composite Armor Systems, at the IDEF’19 exhibition. With the introduction of a new lamination technology, exhibited samples attracted great attention from many potential customers and experts in the field.
Sur Armor Systems composed of add-on composite armour solutions tailor made for light armoured vehicles. Uncompromised reliability is the core principle residing in the manufacturing process of these products therefore technology has been developed to deliver maximum protection in extreme battlefield conditions.
The design of the Sur Armor System can be adapted to every single vehicle thanks to its modular composite technology. Even in the most complex surface, Sur can provide the maximum coverage of the vehicle without the addition of extra weight. It is crucial in practice to not lose mobility in the name of protection. This advantage of Sur Armor Systems has already attracted the attention of Vehicle integrators operation in MENA region.
Tests made in STANAG 4569 Level 3 and 4 indicates that the SUR armour configurations has the ability to absorb 25% more energy than their counterparts produced with conventional laminating techniques. Plates holds their integrity in multi-shot edge shot and angle shot scenarios. A more complex phenomenon called “Shatter Gap penetration” has also been tested with low velocity shots and plates show zero failure.
Level 5 and 6 protection research was already underway and first prototypes will be tested at the end of 2019. Levels 5 and 6 protection, which are in the medium calibre domain, will be the breakthrough that will position MENATEK as the regional leader in armour business.
