The company and its subsidiaries have been actively acquiring assets to enhance its portfolio including completing the acquisition of a 25.1% stake in the German defence technology company Hensoldt for a cash purchase price of approximately $689m (€606m).

The company also partnered with Collins Aerospace to provide the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with Type 163 laser target designators (LTDs). The product is a lightweight, compact, high-energy laser targeting system, designed for deployment with the land
The company’s US arm has also been active and Leonardo DRS secured a contract for the next generation of US Army mission command computing systems known as the Mounted Family of Computer Systems (MFoCS) II.
