The US Department of Defense has awarded a $3.37bn contract to Lockheed Martin for the sale of Phased Array Tracking Radar to Intercept on Target Advanced Capability-3 (Patriot PAC-3) missiles to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, under a foreign military sales programme.

Lockheed Martin will also provide ground support equipment and missile spare parts under the contract.

Raytheon has been awarded a $692.9m contract by the US Army to produce Patriot integrated air and missile defence system for the Swedish Army.

The contract also includes the supply of Patriot fire units, GEM-T interceptor missiles, spares, as well as training and maintenance support.

Sweden’s Patriot surface-to-air missile defence system will allow the US and Swedish armed forces to conduct training programmes and joint training exercises while improving interoperability between the countries.
