STRATCOM monitors strategic deterrence of the US along with the country’s global strike capabilities, nuclear command and control, and electromagnetic spectrum operations worldwide.

The command is created to prevent strategic attacks by maintaining a safe, secure, effective, and credible global combat capability, and to be prepared to succeed in conflict when necessary.

These extensive missions require an advanced IT network that effectively connects data and systems for national decision-makers and mobile military personnel.

The new contract will see GDIT deploying its digital engineering expertise to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and improve collaboration among mission partners.

The company will also incorporate AI and machine learning technologies into STRATCOM’s enterprise data to enable decision-makers to respond swiftly.

Additionally, GDIT will transition STRATCOM to a hybrid cloud environment to provide greater flexibility and scalability.

To safeguard STRATCOM’s networks against evolving cyber threats, GDIT will implement advanced cybersecurity measures and zero trust solutions.

This initiative is part of GDIT’s broader efforts to expand its mission-critical IT services across various combatant commands.

GDIT defence senior vice president Brian Sheridan said: “Modernising STRATCOM’s IT capabilities is critical to protecting our national security and maintaining our strategic deterrence edge. We look forward to delivering a secure, agile and resilient network that enables our warfighters to be better connected, informed and ready.”

In June 2025, GDIT secured a $580m task order to enhance security at US Army bases by maintaining force protection systems globally. Under this contract, the company will maintain force protection systems such as radars, cameras, and sensors that are deployed around the world.
