ELTA North America, based in Maryland, US, has secured a contract from the US Department of Defense (DoD) to assess the capabilities of the new multi-mission/multi-sensor suite (M3S2).

The M3S2 is designed to enhance situational awareness with a low size, weight, and power (SWaP) footprint, and provide defensive options for military vehicles and assets.

This system integrates radar and electro-optical sensors into a compact package, offering active protection, counter-uncrewed aerial systems, and advanced ground surveillance.

The suite is tailored for both tracked and wheeled vehicles and includes a range of tactical sensors such as staring radars, muzzle flash detectors, and acoustic sensors.

These are coordinated through a central signal processing unit that employs enhanced algorithms to ensure accurate target information is relayed to the operator.

The system’s Man Machine Interface simplifies decision-making for immediate action.

Its modular nature facilitates easy integration with different weapon stations and turrets, states the company.

Additionally, when connected to the Fire Control System, the M3S2 completes the sensor-to-shooter loop.

ELTA North America CEO Joe Adams said: “As modern threats evolve, so must our defensive solutions.

“The M3S2 provides 360-degree tactical vehicle protection, seamlessly combining advanced sensors to counter a wide range of threats while reducing the need for multiple, standalone systems.”

Previously, in 2021, ELTA North America delivered the OTM V4 counter-small uncrewed aerial system to the US Department of Defense and the US Department of Homeland Security.

ELTA North America undertakesclassified and unclassified work under a US Government mitigated foreign ownership, control, or influence status and is affiliated with Israel aerospace Industries.
