The missile systems are scheduled for delivery by July next year.

The back-packable Switchblade 300 enables operators to track threats and deliver a lethal payload while reducing collateral damage.

Developed by AeroVironment, the system is rapidly deployable from ground platforms, providing troops with quick response and precision strike capabilities of over six miles from launch location.

AeroVironment vice-president and TMS product line general manager Brett Hush said: “Deployed by the US Army for more than a decade, Switchblade 300 remains a critical force protection and soldier lethality solution for our customers, including Ukraine.

“It closes the gap between observation and action, giving soldiers the ability to identify threats and engage hostile beyond-line-of-sight targets from a greater distance, with minimal collateral damage.”

Equipped with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, the Switchblade 300 can be used to engage beyond line-of-sight targets and light armoured vehicles across land, sea, and air-launched scenarios.

The tube-launched system can be operated autonomously by a single operator. The system also has the capability to wave off or recommit a target post launch.

Earlier this year, AeroVironment won a US Department of Defense foreign military sales contract to deliver Puma 3 all-environment small uncrewed aircraft systems to a US ally.
