Javelin Joint Venture (JJV), a collaboration of Raytheon Missiles & Defense and Lockheed Martin, has secured a US Army contract to manufacture Javelin missiles.
Worth $311m, the agreement also involves the delivery of related equipment and services.

Apart from supplying the missiles to the US Army, the contract also requires JJV to provide production support for international customers, including Lithuania and Jordan.
The deal also includes the delivery of over 1,800 Javelins to replenish stocks in Ukraine.
Javelin Joint Venture president and Raytheon Missiles & Defense Javelin programme director Marek Wolert said: “As Javelin continues to demonstrate its reliability and effectiveness, its reputation as the premier battle-proven, fire-and-forget, precision anti-armour weapon grows.”

Equipped with an imaging infrared seeker, the missile can be used during the day and at night in all weather conditions.
The Javelin missiles are manufactured jointly by JJV.

Javelin has been undergoing frequent upgrades to meet changing operational needs and is likely to be in service with the US Army until 2050.
So far, the JJV has manufactured over 50,000 Javelin missiles and 12,000 reusable Command Launch Units.
