The US Army has awarded a $619m contract to AM General to supply 2,526 high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles, or Humvees, to the Afghan Police Force and National Guard, according to the US Defense Department.
The Humvee is a one platform with multiple mission roles truck, used by the US military since 1985.

Humvees are designed for transportation of personnel and light cargo behind the front lines, not as a front line fighting vehicle.
Work will be carried out in Indiana, US, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
