Boeing and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) have submitted a revised proposal for the technology development phase of the US Army’s ground combat vehicle (GCV) programme.
Boeing Network and Tactical Systems vice-president and general manager Charles Toups said the SAIC-led GCV team, Team Full Spectrum, proposal was focused on the army’s requirement for a modern infantry fighting vehicle.

The SAIC-led GCV team includes Boeing, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Rheinmetall Defence as subcontractors, with SAIC as the prime contractor.
The US Army plans to acquire 1,874 units of the new vehicle, beginning in seven years, and also hopes to award three contracts, each valued at $450m, in April 2011.
The GCV programme is intended to replace its current aging fighting vehicles with a platform capable of carrying and protecting an entire squad from improvised explosive devices and modern warfare threats.
