DSCA also noted that all the equipment included in the sale will contribute to Taiwan’s goal of modernising its military capability and further improve interoperability with the US and other allies.

Paladin M109A6 is a cannon artillery system with SPH developed by the ground system division of United Defense LP (now BAE Systems Land and Armaments) and manufactured at the Paladin Production Operation centre at Chambersburg in Pennsylvania, the US.

DSCA stated: “This proposed sale of M109A6 SPH will contribute to the modernisation of the recipient’s self-propelled howitzer fleet, enhancing its ability to meet current and future threats.

“These systems will contribute to the recipient’s goal of updating its military capability while further enhancing interoperability with the US and other allies. The recipient will have no difficulty absorbing these systems into its armed forces.”

In a separate development, the US Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) awarded Oshkosh Defense a $152m order.

The order is for the delivery of the 541 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) A2 variant.
