KMW Training & Simulation senior vice president Dr Dirk Schmidt said the requirement for Egress training had resulted from a comprehensive analysis of incidents that occurred during recent out of area operations under real combat conditions.

"At a very early stage we have developed our own ideas for a modular Egress trainer."

"At a very early stage we have developed our own ideas for a modular Egress trainer," Schmidt added.

To be jointly manufactured by KMW Training & Simulation and its partner MSE Weibull, the systems are designed to replicate a real-time vehicle rollover to help crews learn emergency exits from a vehicle lying on its side or upside down in the battlefield.

The system will be equipped with a rollover simulator, an instructor operating station (IOS), as well as trainer cabins that can be exchanged in short duration due to sophisticated architecture of universal mounting brackets.

An advanced digital audio/video surveillance system installed with record and replay function will support training analysis and debriefing, as well as serving as the key component for offering maximum safety during all training exercises.

The simulator will also be capable of generating vehicle mock-ups as large as the Swedish Army’s BAE Systems Haggulands-built CV90 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) along with its rotatable turret.

Additional information on the Egress training is scheduled to be provided by the company during the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) 2012 conference, which will be held in December 2012, in Orlando, US.

Deliveries under the contract are due for 2013.
