The Indian Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) is reportedly planning to buy new close quarter battle (CQB) carbines.
The weapon is expected to be purchased from UAE-based Caracal International, which was declared as the lowest bidder for the army’s Fast Track Procurement (FTP) in 2018.

The bid was for the procurement of a total of 93,895 new carbines.
If a contract is finalised with the UAE firm, the carbines will replace the existing 9mm British Sterling 1A1 sub machine guns, reported The Print.
