BAE Systems Hagglunds has signed an exclusive agreement with Polish Defence Holding (PDH) to pursue the Polish Armed Forces’ universal modular tracked platform (MTP) contract.
As part of the agreement, the companies will offer a new tracked armoured combat vehicle, based on BAE’s Combat Vehicle 90 (CV-90) armoured vehicle technology, primarily its chassis, for the programme.

The proposal will also feature technology previously developed by Polish Defence, formerly Bumar Group, for the unsuccessful Anders armoured vehicle programme, reports Defense News.
BAE Systems Land & Armaments sector president Erwin Bieber said: "Polish Defence Holding has extensive experience as an in-country prime contractor and will be critical in developing solutions for this new family of armoured fighting vehicles that will meet the military’s requirements in Poland."
Representing Europe’s biggest forthcoming export programme in the heavy tracked vehicles sector, the MTP contract seeks delivery of more than 600 25t-plus tracked fighting vehicles to help address the military’s tracked platform requirements.
MTP production contract is likely to be awarded in 2015 in anticipation for delivery of first vehicles in 2018, while programme deliveries are scheduled for completion in 2022.

Several vehicle variants are currently operated by Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, as well as the Norwegian Army in support of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan since November 2007.
