Oshkosh Defense has secured delivery orders from the US Army Contracting Command-Warren to upgrade the fleet of heavy tactical vehicles of the US Army.
Under the $346.4m contract, the company will modernise vehicles in the US Army and US Army Reserve Heavy Tactical Vehicle (FHTV) fleets.

As per the delivery orders, Oshkosh will recapitalise Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) and Palletized Load System (PLS) trucks.
Additionally, the company will manufacture new PLS trailers.
Designed to accommodate multiple mission packages, the FHTV fleet supports multi-domain operations to be more efficient on the battlefield.
The recapitalised vehicles are rebuilt and developed with the latest technology and safety upgrades.

Oshkosh Defense US Army and Marine Corps Programs vice-president and general manager Pat Williams said: “Whether they’re hauling rocket launchers and missile defence systems, or transporting mission-critical equipment, the HEMTT and the PLS will continue to be an integral part of the US Army and US Army Reserve heavy vehicle fleets for years to come.
“As the military pivots its focus to near-peer adversaries, they can be confident that the FHTV fleet will continue to serve as a key enabler for combat missions.
“We look forward to supporting the army’s modernisation priorities now and well into the future.”
Since 1995, Oshkosh has recapitalised more than 13,700 HEMTTs and 3,400 PLS vehicles.
In February last year, the company had received a contract to recapitalise 407 HEMTT and PLS trucks. The contract awarded by the US Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) also included the production of 601 new PLS trailers.
