Service members of the US Army and Marine Corps have delivered an additional $230,600 in personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies to hospitals in 11 cities across the Philippines. The deliveries were made in collaboration with the Philippine Air Force, Army, and Coast Guard. With the new donation, the total US government Covid-19 assistance to the Philippines has reached more than $20m. Delivered in cooperation with the Philippine Office of Civil Defense and Department of Health, the assistance will provide much-needed PPE and other essential equipment to medical clinics from Luzon to Mindanao to support frontline workers in the fight against the virus.

India is set to receive ventilators, test kits, and other medical equipment from a French Air Force aircraft as part of Covid-19 assistance by the country, its embassy said. Recently, France President Emmanuel Macron announced the donation of medical equipment to India, in addition to the provision of technical expertise. The medical assistance package will involve a donation of 50 Osiris-3 ventilators and 70 Yuwell 830 ventilators with BiPAP mode to India. Additionally, the country will receive 50,000 serological IgG/IgM test kits and 50,000 nose and throat swabs from France.
Airbus has developed a new app-enabled health monitoring system for military medevac (medical evacuation) flights which is now demonstrating its capabilities in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. The Smart Flying Hospital system will enable medical personnel to better care for patients onboard lifesaving medevac airlift missions. At the same time, the system will transmit data to hospitals on the ground so that doctors can anticipate resources before their arrival. It can be used by patients to insert a sensor into their ear to record the heart rate, breathing rate, temperature as well as oxygen concentration. The Smart Flying Hospital is set to undergo trials onboard A400M military airlifter built by Airbus, next year.
Parsons and life plan community Knollwood run by the Army Distaff Foundation (ADF) have collaborated to help protect residents and staff during Covid-19. As part of the partnership, Parsons’ DetectWise health monitoring solution has been installed in the main entrance of Knollwood’s campus in Washington DC for screening valuable information regarding the health of employees, residents, and visitors. This is aimed at reducing the spread of the virus. Using sensors, the solution will be capable of measuring body temperature. In conjunction with a mobile-based questionnaire and artificial-intelligence driven analytics, it also helps users assess the risk profile of an individual being symptomatic for Covid-19.
