The Department of Defense (DOD) has given Cue Health, a medical diagnostic products manufacturer, a $481m contract on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to expand the company’s production capacity and deploy its six million Covid-19 tests by March 2021. Cue’s Covid-19 molecular test is a nasal swab test, the results of which can be obtained within 20 minutes from the reusable Cue’s Cartridge Reader. The initiative is funded by the HHS and seeks to speed up testing and domestic production capacity.

Joint Region Marianas, the US’ military command in Guam, stated that military installations such as Andersen Air Force Base, Naval Base Guam, and Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz will be moving to health protection condition B from C, due to a steady decline in Covid-19 cases across the Department of Defense. The transition is also aligned to Guam’s pandemic condition of readiness (PCOR) 1.
According to the San Diego Military Advisory Council’s Military Economic Impact Report for the fiscal year 2020, direct military spending accounted for 25% of the county’s gross regional product. The report also highlighted that direct military spending accounted for $33.6bn in San Diego County. The financing is expected to be crucial in uplifting San Diego’s economy, which came to a near halt because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Approximately 123 sailors graduated from the General Entry Class 385 Emms Division under the Royal Australian Navy Recruit School at HMAS Cerberus, after following Covid-19 social distancing guidelines.
