Public Service and Procurement Canada has announced the extension of the Future Fighter Capability Project proposal submission deadline. The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) fighter competition has been delayed by one month due to the Covid-19 pandemic’s impact on the industry. Eligible suppliers can now submit their proposals on or before 31 July. Teams from Saab, Lockheed Martin and Boeing have been invited to participate in the competition.
Boeing has successfully completed additional airlift missions in support of Covid-19 recovery efforts. Over 150,000 protective eye goggles and face shields were delivered from China to the US using three Dreamlifter aircraft. The personal protective equipment (PPE) will be used by the frontline health care professionals in the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) system. MUSC president David Cole said: “These goggles and face shields will allow us to continue to expand our ability to test and monitor for COVID-19 as businesses and communities start to move forward.”

The Kansas National Guard is supporting the decontamination process for N95 medical masks. The masks, that are usually disposed of after a single-use, are disinfected and readied for reuse. The system uses vaporised hydrogen peroxide to decontaminate up to 10,000 compatible N95 protective masks per chamber load. Each sterilisation cycle can process four chambers and a single machine runs two sterilisation processes in one day. Overall, 80,000 masks per machine are decontaminated.
